Tampa, FL. - This past weekend, week 2 of the USSSA Winter State Championship took place at the Fishhawk Ranch Sports Complex in Lithia, just outside of Tampa.

In the 9u age group some of the top teams from around the state came together to battle it out on the diamond for the State Championship title. In the end Mo Steel from Miami Lakes went 5-0 en route to the championship. Mo Steel defeated the Clermont Outlaws and Orlando Tigers in pool play on Saturday. On Sunday Coach Armando Sierra's team took down the Baseball Heaven Miracles in the quarter finals. In the semi finals Mo Steel took down the Bullets/Titans in a close game 8-6. On the other side of the bracket Team Miami was also 4-0. Team Miami defeated the Orlando Tigers in the quarter finals and the Tampa Red Rage in the semi finals. This would set up a much anticipated match up of arguably the top two teams in the State of Florida. Mo Steel would jump out to an early lead but Team Miami would battle back to make it close but in the end Mo Steel would get the win 8-7 thus claiming the State Championship Title.
In the 10u division the West Florida Young Guns from Hudson would go undefeated on their way to the State Championship. The Young Guns continue to show why they are considered one of the top teams in the state of Florida. The Young Guns went 2-0 in pool play earning the 1 seed on Sunday. In the semi finals the Young Guns defeated the Tampa Terminators thus earning a spot in the championship game. One the other side of the bracket the Central Florida Gators defeated the Tampa Threshers in the semifinals setting up a rematch from pool play. The Young Guns went on to defeat the Gators 10-2. Congratulations to the West Florida Young Guns on their State Championship victory.
In the 11u Major division the Bullets went 5-0 on their way to the State Championship. The Bullets went 2-0 in pool play defeating Team Combat from Merritt Island and the Central Florida Jr. Patriots from Ocala. On Sunday the Bullets defeated the Sarasota Sharks in the quarter finals and the Bloomingdale Bandits in the semi finals. In the championship game the Bullets defeated Team Avalanche. Congratulations to Bullets Baseball on going undefeated on their way to the State Championship.
The 11u AA division had the Cape Coral Canes going 4-0 on their way to the State Title. The Canes started pool play by defeating the Eau Gallie Stallions from Melborne and the CFAA Chargers from Orlando. The two wins gave the Canes a bye on Sunday. In the semi finals the Canes would defeat the Pine Crest Patriots. On the other side of the bracket Team Raiders defeated the Chargers in the quarter finals and the Stallions in the semi finals thus earning a spot in the championship game. On this day the Canes were to strong defeating the Raiders and claiming the State Championship.
In the 13u age group the Meteors from Sarasota continued their dominance. Since the Meteors moved up to the big field the have claimed the USSSA Fall National Championship (5-0), USSSA Fall State Championship (4-0), Thanksgiving Super NIT (5-0), Winter World Championship (5-0) and now the USSSA Winter State Championship going 5-0 this past weekend. In pool play the Meteors defeated Hit N Run from Tarpon Springs and Attack Baseball from Orange City. On Sunday the Meteors defeated the Baker Boyz from North Florida in the quarter finals. Next the Meteors would defeat Team Easton from Tampa in the semi finals. On the other side of the bracket the St. Pete Hurricanes would defeat Hit N Run in the quarter finals and the Florida Fire in the semi finals. This would set up the highly anticipated game between these two powerhouse teams. On this day the Meteors would be to much as they went on to get the win 6-2.
